Michael Crichton R.I.P.

Doctor, author, scientific educator, filmmaker, and producer Michael Crichton passed away at the age of 66 from a private battle with cancer.

I remember reading my first Michael Crichton book, The Terminal Man at the age of 12, then I read his classic sci-fi plague novel The Andromeda Strain, The Great Train Robbery, and Eaters of the Dead. He made complex scientific theories understandable, and wrote in a fast paced, economical style, that set them apart from tedious lectures on the dangers of this and that and made them into exciting adventure thrillers.

He will be missed.
