Hollywood Babble On & On... #47: Let's Make a Deal?

It looks like there's a potential, tentative, possible deal in the making to end the WGA strike. You can read an incomplete summary of the potential, possible, tentative deal HERE.

I've taken a look over the summary, and it seems reasonable to me for all involved. Which can only mean one thing: The AMPTP will somehow screw it up as soon as the Oscars get a green-light.

What concerns me is that the summary has no mention of a formula for DVD residuals. So if anyone has any info on that part of the deal, drop a line in the comments.

Anyway, I hope the serious contract-analyzing brains find a good deal in this, that the AMPTP doesn't screw it up, that the strike ends, and Hollywood reforms how it does business.

But I'm a cock-eyed optimist.

    The fixation upon the "now" has appearantly deluded the WGA in regards to the past (DVD) by ignoring it, and potential future (Future printed media-maybe Blu-ray-). Again casting it away for a stopgap for the short future like most American companies do. When they sign this off, slapping of foreheads will be echoed throughout the valley in the realization of that.
